A Second Generation SystemVerilog Training Program

Boxed in...

SystemVerilog is the first industry-standard language covering the requirements of both design and verification. It promises its user community the benefits of broad capability in all areas of design and verification, with the advantage of a broadly supported IEEE standard that will span project generations.
Investment in support for SystemVerilog by the EDA tool providers has been intense over the last few years. However the sheer size and breadth of the SystemVerilog language has meant that commonality of feature support across differing tool-sets has been slow to arrive, and this has led to the SystemVerilog user community being presented with methodologies tuned to the strengths of specific tools.
'Boxed in' by such divergent support, this has meant many users have been cautious about a full scale migration to SystemVerilog and chosen to await broader support and a convergent methodology within the industry.

Second generation 'project ready' training

The big question is...will 2007 see SystemVerilog finally come 'out of the box' and be broadly adopted? "To get SystemVerilog out of the box and into productive use requires engineers who have confidence in their chosen methodology as well as essential language skills", comments Doulos CEO, Rob Hurley.
As the only independent and global training provider in the design and verification domain, Doulos has tracked the take-up of SystemVerilog across its customer base, and has worked closely with the methodology groups in all the leading EDA vendors.
Doulos delivered its first SystemVerilog training in 2004, and has supported the evaluation and take-up of SystemVerilog in both design and verification groups across all industry segments in differing tool contexts since that time.
This has given Doulos a unique view of the evolution of SystemVerilog in both support and capability terms.
Finally, it looks as if 2007 will be the year that SystemVerilog comes out of the box; with tool support from the vendors progressing strongly towards 100% coverage, and rapid user take-up across all application domains.

Anticipating the wave

To anticipate this wave, Doulos has invested significantly over the last year to revise, re-structure and enhance its SystemVerilog training materials and capability to ensure that it can fulfil all the requirements across the application space.

An industry first

From 1st February 2007, Doulos is pleased to present its Second Generation SystemVerilog Training Program as an industry first; aimed at addressing user requirements who need to be fully project-ready with SystemVerilog in their own application, tool and methodology context, whatever that may be.

Out of the box...

Doulos has crafted two distinct tracks for SystemVerilog training which map on to the requirements of the two distinctive user communities; design groups and verification specialists. Doulos has applied its expertise in both disciplines to develop a training program to match each one's requirement.

Unique to the industry

Doulos will schedule both tracks on every occasion in every location throughout 2007. With 5 different course locations in the US and 6 in Europe, engineers from both design or verification disciplines can obtain training to match their needs delivered in the context of their tool choice - i.e SystemVerilog training out of the box.
The syllabus for each class has been carefully designed by Doulos to ensure engineers get comprehensive and unbiased tuition on the application of SystemVerilog appropriate to their discipline. You can find out more about each class and scheduled dates using the links below.

A unique team-training package for each unique team

- The modular SystemVerilog concept -

Based on many years experience of migrating whole teams or organisations to new methods, Doulos has long recognised that delivering 'off-the-shelf' training is rarely sufficient.
The best learning outcomes are experienced when the training program is carefully tuned to the customer context. Significant factors include the training objectives, the customer's tool flow, the application domain, the extent of the methodology migration required and the pre-existing know-how across the customer team.
Doulos has developed the modular training concept to enable the delivery of best-fit training programs for the broadest range of industry needs. This second generation SystemVerilog offering from Doulos incorporates major refinements to this modular program of training, and the customer engagement process that underpins it.
For this reason Doulos addresses all in-house team-based training as a potentially unique training program with no assumption as to the scope, duration and content of the training required.

How it works...

To enable this, a Doulos subject matter expert will draw up a specific training program and proposal based on a direct interaction with a technical lead from the customer and the Modular SystemVerilog syllabus and materials.
Team-based training based on Modular SystemVerilog can also include vendor specific tool and methodology training modules where these are relevant to the overall customer learning requirements. These may be provided in partnership with instructors from the EDA vendor or by a Doulos instructor direct.
Modular SystemVerilog training programs can also incorporate ongoing expert support with respect to enabling post-training project application.
