Project Services

Doulos know-how is the key to maximising the efficiency of existing processes and successfully integrating new methodology solutions. Tracking the latest methodologies, languages and tools; Doulos has built up a first class reputation for delivering EDA know-how to clients over 13 years.

Leading the way in Design and Verification technology, our team of consultants can work with you using the EDA methodologies and languages of your choice:

  • SystemC, e, SystemVerilog, VHDL, Verilog
  • Altera and Xilinx FPGA, ASIC
  • Handel-C, OpenVera, C++, C
  • Perl, TCL
  • Formal Verification,Co-simulation
  • Equivalence checking, Property checking

Doulos Project Services is a powerful resource giving your company rapid access to expertise for direct use on project issues. A wide range of packages exist to assist you through all stages of methodology and language decision making, integration and design use. All our packages can be provided with the flexibility to provide support exactly when required, maximising the benefit to cost ratio.

Management Briefings and Engineering Workshops

Many companies are realising that their existing HDL based design environment is no longer coping with the verification challenge of product developments, but the proposition of changing the way project teams carry out verification can be daunting and fraught with problems.

Companies looking to update their design technology are faced with many tool, language and associated methodology options. A superficial evaluation of a new language or tool may miss many hidden problems that only surface when used on a live project with potentially disastrous consequences.

Finding the way forward requires informed decisions from both engineers and managers. Doulos is well positioned to brief managers on the impact of methodology change, and engineers on the mechanics of change. Such support can be provided in intensive and interactive management briefings and engineering workshops tailored to the client's context.

Language and Methodology Training

It is essential to a have a design team fully trained and project ready even for a trial project. For many years, Doulos has specialised in the provision of expert training in all the leading languages and methodologies in single or multi-vendor tool environments. Such training can be carefully customised to meet a client's specific project needs, and with our unique, comprehensive course materials, the project team will have a permanent and invaluable companion.

Verification Audit

With verification taking a majority of the effort on a project, this is often the best place to start investigating process improvement. Whether looking to optimise the existing processes or integrate new methodologies, the potential gains are high, with improvements in both efficiency and verification quality.

A verification audit provides an organisation with an assessment of current verification practices and their effectiveness. Opportunities for methodology improvement, and a clear understanding of the impact of its adoption can also be identified. Working alongside key implementers within the client organisation, Doulos can provide expert assistance in such an audit by bringing an external and independent perspective to the analysis. An effective audit will give the confidence to proceed with a project implementing the verification changes identified.

Expert-on-call is a flexible, help-desk style support package that can put your design team in touch with a consultant with one call to a Doulos office.

The learning curve does not end with the completion of a training course or even at the end of the first project. Expert-on-call has been used by clients to ensure their projects don't stop when technical problems arise. This service is typically used to answer "What is the best way to..." type questions, explain language issues, or to debug small sections of code on demand.

Once a usage policy is agreed, Expert-on-call can save hours of needless researching and debugging, allowing engineers to concentrate on the essential project issues throughout the entire project life-cycle.

Expert Design

The Expert-Design package covers the production of test-benches, device or environment models at different levels of abstraction, verification components or complete test environments.

Due to our flexibility of resource planning, Doulos can work efficiently on design and verification tasks ranging from small modules to IC and system level. From description to delivery, Doulos consultants will work with you to derive, or use your existing specifications producing results that meet your requirements.

Recognising that there is more to a project than a point delivery, our clients are looking to establish solid relationships to ensure the integrity of the design knowledge that remains important long beyond the delivery date. Our highly skilled team of consultants not only produce quality design solutions but are also able to clearly communicate the design knowledge.

Expert Support

The Expert Support package is designed to provide expertise with a larger proportion of on-site interaction. This may be provided in a style similar to normal contract hire or at fixed cost, but still offers the advantages of flexibility in resource planning. Support can be provided throughout the entire project life-cycle at the points where it is needed most without having the overhead of retaining resources during known quiet periods. Importantly, the consultant is always available to answer any queries throughout the project period and after completion.

Expert support can be used for the following types of task:

  • On-site IC Design and Integration for ASIC and FPGA
  • Verification environment design
  • Creating design procedures
  • Designing customised tool flows
  • Defining and refining design methodologies
  • Code reviews
