Why use an RTOS and considerations for Porting it to a New Architecture
While barriers to using Real-Time Operating Systems have diminished in recent times with advances in technology, it's important not to underestimate the process of implementing one. Also, the availability of manufacturer supplied toolchains with pre-built and tested code may mean you don't fully appreciate what is happening behind the scenes.
There are other challenges too... What happens if your processor is not supported? Perhaps your preferred RTOS is not supplied with your compiler? Maybe you are starting from your own customized soft processor core subsystem with no pre-existing port?
This webinar will help you understand:
We will consider the case of implementing an RTOS on an Arm® Cortex®-M soft processor core within a Xilinx® FPGA.
